Screen printing
About the Technique
Screen printing is a classic and proven branding method where ink is pushed through a fine mesh stencil (screen) directly onto the surface of the product. Each colour is printed separately using an individual screen, allowing for Pantone colour matching and durable, high-opacity prints.
Silk Screen Round Printing is a variation tailored specifically for cylindrical or conical products, such as bottles and mugs, though full 360-degree coverage is not achievable.
Advantages of technology
- Suitable for large print areas
- Designed for cylindrical and conical items
- Bright, solid colours with excellent coverage
- Supports accurate Pantone (PMS) colour matching
- Offers exceptional durability in everyday use
Ideal Products
Screen printing is particularly suitable for:
- Drinkware – glass, ceramic, metal or plastic mugs and bottles
- Bags and textiles – cotton tote bags, T-shirts, sweatshirts
- Folders, boxes, flat packaging
- Backpacks and non-woven bags
Technical Considerations
- Best suited for round or slightly conical items
- Cannot cover a full 360° wrap-around
- Allows up to 4–5 separate colours
- Prints only solid colours – no gradients or photo-quality images
Environmental and Safety Aspects
- Low water usage
- Generates substantial waste, including hazardous materials
- High energy consumption
- Releases volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
- Some inks meet GRS compliance, but metallic inks do not
